We offer several of methods of treatment of vein problems at our office. The choice of treatment depends on the diagnosis. We perform a detailed history and physical examination on each patient to make the correct diagnosis. This often includes a noninvasive, ultrasound examination to visualize and evaluate the veins.
Treatment methods offered include sclerotherapy, radiofrequency ablation, and mini-phlebectomy procedures.
Sclerotherapy involves injecting veins with a medicine that helps to disintegrate the unhealthy vein. This is sometimes done under ultrasound guidance to better visualize the vein.
Radiofrequency ablation is another common precedure that we use to close larger veins. This is done under a local anesthetic.
Mini-phlebectomy involves removing an abnormal superficial vein under a local anesthetic via mini-incisions.
